Kevin O’Dwyer‘s solo exhibition ‘A Sparkling Party’ is currently showing at the Bluecoat Display Centre.
Following the lecture attendees will be invited back to the Display Centre for an opportunity to see the exhibition and chat more informally with Kevin while refreshments and nibbles are served.
‘Craft of the Teapot’
Pamela Brown, Chief Executive of The Athenaeum, and Dr. Maureen Bampton, Director of Bluecoat Display Centre, will introduce the event followed by a presentation by local ceramicist Simon Shaw about methods used to create his own tea drinking ceramic vessels, including teapots!
Simon, a local ceramicist based in Wirral has a longstanding connection with Bluecoat Display Centre, having exhibited his work in the gallery for just over 25 years.
Simon will speak about ceramics, which are part of the tea drinking tradition, in particular connecting to the theme of afternoon tea, which will be served after the talk. Simon’s presentation will focus upon demonstrating how he creates his own unique style of ceramics.
A traditional afternoon tea in the grand setting of The Athenaeum will follow the talk.
This event is open to current and new subscribing Friends of Bluecoat Display Centre and Members of The Athenaeum. Attendees must be over the age of 14.
