2019 Workshops

Mantle Wreath Workshop with Agnes & Bee

Sunday 8 December 2019, 12 noon – 4pm

As part of our Christmas exhibition JÓL we are delighted to offer a floral workshop with one of Liverpool’s leading floral artists Kate Ellis of Agnes and Bee.

Using a combination of driftwood, dried flowers, grasses, ferns and of course naturally scented foliage Kate will expertly guide you though the process of creating your own wonderfully wild, foraged and naturally styled swag or mantle wreath which can be used as a decoration year after year and hung either inside or outside your home.

Agnes & Bee create beautiful, unstructured and seasonal ‘a little on the wild side’ British grown natural florals. Kate will also share with you tips for creating your own swag, using foraged and dried flowers for the seasons ahead.

BBC Get Creative Workshop – Printmaking with Gill Curry

Saturday 18 May 2019, 1pm – 3pm

at the Bluecoat Display Centre

Get Creative Festival is a BBC led campaign that encourages participation in creative activities and recognises and celebrates the arts and culture that happen every day across the nation.

Local printmaker Gill Curry will be holding a free family friendly drop-in workshop at Bluecoat Display Centre from 1pm – 3pm teaching people how to make simple monoprints. Gelli Printing Plates are ideally suited for the production of colourful and unique monotypes (also called monoprints). Bring some leaves, feathers or flowers to press (or use ones which we will collect on the day) to quickly and easily make some amazing designs for greetings cards or prints.

This is a free event so just drop in to have a go in the Bluecoat Display Centre exhibition area. The event aims to inspire people to get involved and try something new. The important thing is to have some fun!

Get Creative is a campaign run by a group of cultural organisations to celebrate and support the everyday creativity happening in homes and public spaces. The Get Creative Festival runs from 11 – 19 May 2019.
