Gallery Team

Our experienced and knowledgeable staff work to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the gallery. We curate our changing programme of selling exhibitions, maker led events and the delivery of our outreach projects with health, social care and education partners across Merseyside.

All gallery team members contribute towards curating and visual merchandising, event organisation, commissioning, artist selection and accounts.

Kate Moult, Gallery Director

Kate has over 20 years’ experience working in the contemporary crafts and applied arts at Bluecoat Display Centre.

Kate’s key responsibilities include creative programming and curating; artist selection lead; press, publicity and marketing; accounts; fundraising and new developments lead and also Outreach Programme lead. Kate is also a practising jeweller and takes on commissions and sells her work online and through the Display Centre.

Lauren Souras, Gallery Assistant

Lauren has recently joined the team at the Display Centre. Her key responsibilities include- front of house, customer service, marketing, social media, website and online store development and management.

Pauline Hughes, Gallery Assistant

Pauline has worked at the Display Centre previously for a number of years and re-joined the team in 2024 after a 20 year hiatus. Her key responsibilities include- front of house, customer service, orders and commissions as well as curating and displays.

Pauline is also a practising ceramic artist since obtaining her degree at Brighton Polytechnic in 1988.  She has also exhibited her work at The Royal Academy Summer Show, SOFA Chicago and Arts Fairs in Miami, London, Amsterdam and New York.

In 2024 she received a Masters from The Royal College of Art.

Alan Matthews, Accounts (Part-time)

Al joined the team in 2022. He has worked in the Merseyside arts community for almost thirty years and has extensive experience in accounting for arts organisations.

Al’s responsibilities include in house accounts supervision and advice; VAT returns; bank reconciliation.

Freelancers, Volunteers & Student Placements

The team is supported by several skilled part-time freelance and volunteer gallery assistants with experience in craft and design, galleries and retail who help at key times of the year, such as holiday cover and Christmas trading.

Regular work experience is offered to students and recent graduates as volunteers. We positively aim to promote diversity, and welcome involvement from all sections of the community.
