Becky Crow

Material: Jewellery | Location: Sussex
Becky Graduated with a BA Hons in Three Dimensional Crafts from the University of Brighton in 1999. Since then she has been making at the Rosehill Workshop a cooperative work space in Brighton. A mixture of jewellery and three dimensional illustration Becky's work is designed to be both worn, and displayed. All her pieces start life as drawings. Narratives are captured in silver, and her work is peopled with characters adventuring and exploring, evoking folktales and memories. They express an everyday engagement with the great outdoors, which is a source of wonder and a constant inspiration.

The pieces are individually made by hand from sheet silver with gold and gold leaf for detailing. The metal is pierced out, then textures or patterns are applied using a variety of techniques. These include milling paper cuts to emboss the surface and steel stamps to create textures. These components are then layered together, soldered, and finished with matt, oxidised and polishes surfaces to add depth and tone.

Throughout her 26 year career Becky has exhibited and sold her work widely through shops and galleries across the UK. She is a member of the Sussex Guild, a regular exhibitor at theDazzle exhibitions, at Leeds Craft Centre and Design Gallery, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, andRuthin Craft Centre, amongst many others. Both the V&A and the British Museum have sold her work to accompany specific exhibitions and Brighton and Hove museums have one of her pieces in their permanent collection. Historically she exhibited at the Chelsea Crafts Fair, and at Art in Action, where she won the 'Best of the Best' Award for her Alphabet Adventure in 2015.
