Lesley Farrell

Material: Ceramics | Location: Lincolnshire
Lesley Farrell creates ceramic vessel forms, hand-built using traditional coil and pinch construction methods. The surfaces are applied using layers of slip and glaze, incorporating delicate patterns, which make aesthetic reference to the lace industry. She is interested in the contrasts between mass-manufactured objects and the making of one-off hand-built ceramics. The works are double walled, giving the illusion of density, and combine contemporary forms with the shadow-like intricately patterned surfaces. Each piece is worked individually, making each one unique.

Having obtained a degree in Ceramics from Loughborough College of Art and Design, Lesley pursues a career in the gallery sector and is an established curator alongside her studio practice. She has an MA in Photography from Nottingham Trent University and a PGCE in Art and Design from the University of Brighton.
