2020 / 2021 Projects

During 2020/21 the Bluecoat Display Centre have been working to stay connected and to support makers through the delivery of ambitious new high quality activities. A series of online residencies and workshops have been filmed, enabled by The National Lottery Community Fund Award, The Skelton Charity, and The Ann and Ray Messer Foundation, with the support of The Life Rooms and NHS Mersey Care.

To date, 16 maker workshops have been filmed, with more planned for March 2021. Each film is designed to stimulate, inspire and occupy a wide audience of all ages during this challenging period of confinement.

We will be adding the films to our website from March 2021 for our gallery audience: please scroll down to view the films available so far. Merseycare NHS users registered with the Life Rooms Recovery College can access them through their website at www.liferooms.org.

We know from our outreach projects that taking part in regular arts activities has a positive effect on everyone’s mental health, general well-being and combats loneliness and isolation. During this challenging year, the team at the gallery and our talented makers have been more passionate than ever about using the human and emotional values of craft to enrich and support the lives of those in our communities.
