Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair Showcase Award 2025

For our 2025 Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair Showcase Award we are delighted to feature the work of jeweller Emily Higham alongside ceramicist James Pettinger

Emily is a contemporary Jeweller who uses the process of enamelling to explore colour and pattern within jewellery. Using a combination of industrial liquid enamel layered over vitreous enamel, mixed with the decorative use of enamel foils and lustres, Emily creates delicate and aesthetical jewellery pieces that are inspired by the beautiful colours and patterns of honeycomb and the shapes and layers found within beehives.

James has a Degree in Furniture Design and Cabinet making and with over a decade of experience working in the Ceramics industry world has given James a respect for tradition and love of the processes involved. James is currently ceramics Technical Instructor at De Montfort University.

He creates handmade, functional and unique pieces in his studio, in his garden, in Derby.
