On Saturday 16 November 2024 we will be joined in the gallery by ceramicist Carlo Briscoe of Reptile Tiles, who produce highly original hand painted tiles and ceramics full of colour, pattern and humour.
Carlo will be chatting informally and demonstrating some of her decorating techniques with hanging decorations, perfect for Christmas.
Carlo and her husband, Ed, established Reptile in 1988: the same year they married. Both are fine art graduates, only discovering the wonders of ceramics at evening classes with Angus Suttie in Lambeth and then with Don Dewar in Bolt Court – two highly inspirational teachers.
They aspire to produce tiles that are innovative whilst remaining rooted in the wonderful and varied history of decorative tile making. Subject matter is varied and includes underwater scenes, animals, birds, plants and landscapes.
Booking is not required for this event, just pop in between 2pm – 4pm to gain a valuable insight into the work of these talented makers.
