Guided Visit – Hospital Residency Tour

Tuesday 3 March 2020

Many of our local makers have worked on our Outreach Programme at the main Liverpool hospitals over the past 8 years, running workshops for patients on acute hospital wards.

The legacy of these workshops is a series of maker commissions, installed at the hospitals, which have been directly informed by the maker’s experience of meeting and working with the patients and staff.

This insightful tour will start at 9.30am at the Bdc with an introductory talk by our Making a Difference exhibition curator Claire Smith; a minibus will then take the group to the Royal Liverpool, Alder Hey, Broadgreen and The Walton Centre. There will be a break and opportunity to purchase lunchtime refreshments at Alder Hey.

At each hospital their project lead will give a brief introduction to the residencies from their perspective and there will also be one of our residency makers available at each hospital to talk about their experience and the final commission. Confirmed speakers are:

Christine Toh & Ian Stenton at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital; Caroline Gregson & Vicky Charnock at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital; and Gill Curry & Claire Williams at The Walton Centre.
