Charitable Aims & Objectives

The Bluecoat Display Centre became a registered charity in 2010 and since then has developed an ambitious outreach programme working with leading professional Merseyside makers in our local community, to promote the proven benefit of participation in craft activities on health and mental well-being.

Our charitable aims and objective include:

– To promote excellence in design and making within the contemporary applied arts both nationally and internationally.

– To raise public awareness and appreciation of the work of leading and emerging artists through exhibition, education, display and sale, to advocate for the contemporary craft sector.

– Work closely with local universities, including Liverpool Hope University and Manchester School of Art, to support new graduates and early career makers, and help graduate retention by offering a retail outlet for their work along with professional development advice sessions.

– Offer an internship programme for students and recent graduates to gain experience working in the gallery and craft sector. Taken out casual work

– To maintain a national and international reputation for contemporary craft, and to continue to provide stimulating exhibitions of local, national and international artists, contributing to Liverpool’s cultural offer.

We welcome enquiries from organisations regarding charitable giving who empathise with our aims and have many sponsorship opportunities connected to the exhibition and workshop programme.
