Meet the Maker & Demonstration – Nawal Gebreel

Saturday 24 August 2024

2pm – 4pm at the Bluecoat Display Centre

On Saturday 24 August 2024 we will be joined in the gallery by Nawal Gebreel, who will be demonstrating different ways to wear her opulently pleated scarves and accessories, as well as her techniques for freehand ink landscape paintings.

Nawal’s work is heavily influenced by tactile textures, the rhythms of nature, Japanese paper-folding and shibori techniques. Her scarves and accessories feature sumptuous origami shapes, sultry swirls, metamorphosed silks and of course the label’s signature – of perfect pleats in abundance. The styles range from day to evening – simple to the more avant-garde.

Nawal is an experienced teacher and demonstrator, and runs regular classes in watercolours, mixed media art, textiles, machine embroidery, for all abilities and experience.

Booking is not required for this event, just pop in between 2pm – 4pm to gain a valuable insight into this talented maker’s work.
