Material: Woodwork | Location: Cumbria
I make playful, decorative objects using steam-bent wood. I am excited by the possibilities that steam-bending offers for creating curved forms and moments of tension. The beauty of wood and the act of transforming this natural material is a driving force behind my work.

Exploration of boatyards and observation of the construction of vessels has lead to my method of working. My pieces are an echo of the boat building process. The construction is highlighted through visible joins. I add found objects, metal or jesmonite pieces - a focal point within the steam-bent frame.

Drawing is central to my practice, allowing me to capture what I find beautiful in my immediate environment. I enjoy the challenge of bringing my drawings to life as three dimensional objects and the opportunity this process presents for developing new skills as a maker.
