Ian Gregory

Material: Ceramics | Location: Dorset
"I am a ceramicist working in particular with salt glazed stoneware, lifesize statuary, raku and mixed media installation. I was one of the first potters to experiment with what has become known as paperclay and often build a kiln in which to fire a specific piece of sculpture.

I enjoy focusing upon the animal kingdom. Dogs which I create can be savage, threatening and ominous as they crouch with overstated limbs, awaiting an opportunity to pounce. My animals can be dark as well as comical, with plump, idle pigs and sleeping dogs cleverly depicted with generous folds of flabby flesh apparently quickly and easily achieved in impressionistic style but emphasising muscle tone and skeletal features." - Ian Gregory

Ian Gregory sadly passed away in 2021.
