I am a potter based in Orpington in Kent. I specialise in wheel-thrown tableware with colourful, hand-carved decoration. I studied ceramics at Kensington and Chelsea College inLondon (2013-2016) and have a BTEC Extended Level 3 National Diploma in Art and Design:Ceramics. I launched my first collection and my business in 2016 and have exhibited in numerous craft fairs since. I have also gained industry experience as a studio assistant, and later worked as a ceramics technician; from 2019, I also teach ceramics in adult education, both workshops and qualification courses.

I make wheel-thrown and press-moulded tableware from high-firing clays. My pieces are functional and uncomplicated, and are meant to be used every day: eating, drinking and sharing are those moments which create an intimacy between the pot and its holder, and change the average into special. It is very important for me how the pot fits into and sits in the palm of the hands, and how it relates to and connects with the food served in it. The simple curved forms together with the regularity of throwing provide a blank canvas for my patterns.

Decoration involves carving through or scraping back: I hide away first and then slowly and meticulously reveal the pattern beneath, with sgraffito and inlay being my favourite techniques. Inspiration has various sources: the heritage of my motherland, Hungary and its traditional folk pottery; the country’s hilly landscapes with their softly waving silhouettes, the grasses and flowers of the summer meadows feathering in the wind. My landscape architect background adds the love for regularity, order and intricate details.
