I have always loved wood. It gives so much when the grain, faults and textures are revealed as it's pared away. I grew up in a woodworking family in Wexford and my passion for woodturning began back then, but moving from home and without space for a lathe I didn't do any turning for almost 30 years.

I studied Sculpture at WIT, then trained to teach Art & Design in Limerick School of Art, and taught Art at second level for a few years. I currently work at The Institute of Art, Design & Technology as a Model-making & Design Technician. It turns out I love lots of materials!

Recently I dusted off the old lathe and gave it a go again. That was it, I was once again hooked, and with knowledge of more modern model-making techniques and materials accumulated over the years I realised that combining these with wood makes woodturning even more exciting.
