Ceramic Botanist by Louise Condon Designs is a body of work rooted in a deep connection to the natural world and the quiet rhythms of the seasons. Working exclusively with botanicals, my practice follows the changing year — from the fullness and vitality of spring growth to the skeletal, pared-back forms of winter. These shifts are captured through direct botanical imprints, preserving fleeting moments in time within clay.I create a wide range of functional and sculptural ceramic pieces, including miniatures to large-scale statement vases, jugs, wall plaques, splash backs, plates, garden-inspired sculptural works and lights. Each piece is formed using real plant material, ensuring every work is entirely unique.I work with stoneware clays, crank and porcelain, firing to 1260 degrees. Porcelain pieces are finished with a glossy surface to enhance light and translucency, while stoneware forms are glazed internally to retain function. Oxides and stains are used to subtly highlight the botanical imprints revealed through firing, celebrating imperfection, ephemerality and renewal.
