Michelle Young-Hares

Material: Ceramics | Location: Scotland
Michelles’ ceramic sculptures aim to communicate a meaningful connection to the natural world through a joyful expression of form,
texture, and pattern in clay.

She has a particular interest in botany, using macro photography to magnify and study the structure and growth patterns of plant forms, interpreting them back into clay structures that shift between the known and unfamiliar.

Sculptures are a combination of thrown, altered, handbuilt and textured clay, multiple glaze fired in an electric kiln to mid-temperature stoneware.
