Penny Warren GNCCF Award Winner 2024
Material: Jewellery | Location: East Sussex
We are delighted to continue our partnership with Great Northern Events selecting a new maker from each Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair (GNCCF) which takes place in Manchester during October. This year we've selected the contemporary jeweller Penny Warren whose joyful silver and anodised aluminium collections we will be showing in the gallery during December with an edit also available online.
Based in her Brighton workshop, Penny has been making contemporary jewellery in hand-dyed aluminium and textured silver for over 20 years.
Using a variety of printing and dying techniques to apply colour to anodised aluminium, she twins the metal with milled silver or brass, to create eye-catching, contemporary jewellery, with bold shapes and simple lines. Riveting together contrasting colours to rolled silver has been a recent process used in her current collection Trax. Her Loop collection is all about pushing the metal into the three dimensional, by curling it into ribbon like shapes which are light yet strong.
Her work can be found in shops and galleries throughout the UK and she regularly exhibits at craft shows and exhibitions during the year.
