Rebecca Killen

Material: Ceramics | Location: Northern Ireland
Rebecca Killen makes unique products for the interiors and giftware markets using fine bone china, cobalt and hints of gold lustre, creating luxury statement pieces for the home. The work, inspired by traditional blue and white patterns, is simple and contemporary in form and decorated using a variety of printing methods.

Rebecca, who graduated with a BA Hons in Fine and Applied Arts from the University of Ulster, uses the industrial process of slip casting which gives her complete control and influence at each part of the making practice. Plaster moulds are used to cast the liquid bone china before firing. She then applies the individual designs to her work using hand painted designs, ceramic transfers and lustres.

Rebecca Killen Ceramics, who is kindly supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, is based at the Southern Regional College, Newry through Craft NI’s flagship programme ‘Making It’.
