I was born in Cardiff and went to Newport College of Art and Brighton College of Art. It has been my good fortune to have had a career as an illustrator of children’s books, working with many publishers including Puffin Books and Harper Collins.

Alongside illustration work I have always painted work of a more personal kind including still life and landscape painting. Many paintings are miniature in scale. I work with gauche, watercolour and use scraper board engraving as a basis for coloured prints. The black line is digital printed onto watercolour paper, I then paint each individual print.

I often base images on poetry, the series ‘Window Still Lives’ is based on the still creatures that look out from my studio window. I wanted to animate them and had in mind the verse by W.H. Davies - “What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare.”
