The tour ends at 1.00pm. There are plenty of local cafes and restaurants in the area for refreshments or lunch afterwards. (Ticket price does not include lunch.)
Join us to hear local makers talk about their inspirations and working methods. There will also be the unique opportunity to see behind the scenes as we visit some of their studios.
Local jeweller Anthony Wong will speak to us about his contemporary jewellery. In recent years, his work has been heavily influenced by time spent studying for his Masters at The Royal College of Art. He produces hand-made bespoke jewellery and multi-disciplinary art pieces for exhibition.
We will then travel to Baltic Clay, located in the North Dock area of Liverpool. There, we will meet ceramicists Chris Turrell and Simon Dredge who will talk about their different approaches to making in clay. Chris’ interest is in Modernist architecture and creating hand built organic forms, whereas Simon treats clay as a canvas, experimenting in particular with pattern and colour.
Finally we will move onto furniture maker Hugh Miller’s Victorian warehouse studio, situated in The Baltic Triangle area. We will see his woodworking space where his pieces of furniture begin life as sketches and are handmade and finished. Hugh will speak about how his architectural training influences how he manufactures fine furniture designs.
